FORMULA IS ESSENTIAL

What makes a great blank that Quiver guarantees - the best raw materials. All polyurethane foam components are not created equal. Most foam formulas for blank production in the market are primarily made for auto parts and refrigerator insulation. At Quiver we begin with a formula exclusively designed for surfboard construction, a polyurethane brewer with over 40 years experience and many hours of laboratory research in production of complex foam formulations required to make the best blank.

We then take this formula and process it under a completely monitored mixing and pouring system with strict quality control of manufacture, correct storage of the chemistry prior to production, and record and maintain all environmental and process timings to ensure daily consistency on the production floor.

Recent improvements have been made to part of the chemistry used in PU foam production in late 2008. A new light TDI is a major change to a part of the formula which improved it’s material handling capabilities, hardness for a given ratio and color. It also improved the foam’s overall weight to strength ratio so it has boosted our blanks performance in the water.

Of course all our foams density carry a fine cell structure for low resin absorption and the added improvement in color makes this new formula the choice for the best blank production possible.

Cruise
Cruise weight is our most durable density and the heaviest foam we product, the best compressive strength with good solid flex. In surfboard construction an added savings as it requires less glass only one 6oz. deck lamination for most blank sizes, micro fine cell size for low resin absorption.

Shred
Still a durable density, great compressive strength and flex a medium weight foam that perform very well in the water, micro fine cell size for low resin absorption and in surfboard construction depending on the weight of the surfer could use one 6oz. deck lamination for most blank sizes.

RIP weight
Best described a great choice for the hard core recreational surfer, great responsive flex, light weight and super bouyant, where performance is the surfer’s request to the shaper. Micro fine cell size, in construction 2 laminations of 4oz. should be applied for all blank sizes.

Fly weight
Pro weight our lightest version, where performance is demanded not the life of the surfboard. Needs an appropriate glass job to round out the performance of the surfboard, fine cell size.
